IBS resolved in Cambridge and London with Hypnosis, Pure Hypnoanalysis and applied psychological techniques

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is thought to affect as many as one in five of the population at any one time. IBS symptoms can be fairly mild but, in many cases, this condition is very debilitating. Most people find that there are times when their IBS signs and symptoms are worse (often during periods of stress) and times when they improve or even disappear completely.

The exact symptoms of IBS can vary from person to person, but people tend to experience at least one of the following common symptoms:

  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Bloating (that may subside overnight, only to return the next day, and may occur after eating a meal)
  • Flatulence
  • Abdominal pain or cramps:
    1. may, or may not, be reduced by passing a stool
    2. may be specific to the lower right side or tucked up under the right ribs
    3. tucked up under left ribs, or if the pain is particularly bad it may move into the left armpit
    4. in women, left sided abdominal pain during sex
    5. or more generalised pain or cramping
  • Painful swallowing
  • Noisy gurgling stomach (may be loud enough to cause social embarrassment)
  • Variable, erratic and unpredictable bowel habits
  • Severe short stabbing pains in the rectum
  • Passing urine more often
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea
  • Depressive symptoms
  • Anxiety and stress-related symptoms, which may interact with the gut symptoms

If you have IBS you may find it very difficult to talk about your symptoms, as you may find them extremely embarrassing. As a consequence of this embarrassment, many IBS sufferers hide their condition.

For many people IBS symptoms occur very frequently and severely. If you are affected by IBS, you will also know only too well that the symptoms can seriously limit your ability to live your life to the full. IBS can make it hard to travel as symptoms may require rapid access to toilet facilities and these may not always be available. The condition can make dating and relationships difficult due to embarrassment over your symptoms. Symptoms can even be so bad that you find sexual intimacy off-putting or painful. If you have IBS you may worry about what you can eat as certain foods make your symptoms worse, making eating out at restaurants or friend's houses very tricky. This condition can mean that you have to take frequent time off work and your social life may also be significantly affected leaving you feeling isolated and lonely.

IBS can be vey difficult to treat effectively. There are many different types of treatment including medications; herbal treatments; dietary changes and restrictions; exercises and lifestyle changes or restrictions. However, the reality for IBS sufferers is that most treatments aim to ease the symptoms, rather than removing or resolving the root cause of the IBS. Even if some treatments seem partially or fully effective the person is likely to always have a susceptibility to IBS. Often symptoms return with a vengeance as soon as the treatment is ceased.

IBS is caused by an inner unconscious anxiety. You have indeed probably noticed that your symptoms tend to be worse when you are stressed. Unconscious anxiety can result in many physical symptoms and conditions, as there is a strong mind-body connection. IBS can be banished permanently using Pure Hypnoanalysis or my newly developed Changing Limiting Beliefs training programme.

Curing IBS using Pure Hypnoanalysis

Pure Hypnoanalysis is a very special type of hypnotherapy. It is one of the best methods in the world for treating emotional, psychological or anxiety-related problems. It is a uniquely successful therapy, which allows you to completely resolve the root emotional cause of your IBS, in a very safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. This therapy only takes around 6 - 12 sessions, allowing you to make huge changes to your life in a very short space of time.

Resolving IBS through Changing Limiting Beliefs

My Changing limiting beliefs training programme is an alternative way of putting an end to your IBS. This training programme teaches you how to take control of your thoughts, feelings, emotions, doubts and worries. It is able to completely change the way you think and feel about yourself and challenging situations, enabling you to live a happier, more successful and positive life without the symptoms of IBS. It is particularly suitable for anyone who may, for whatever reason, find going through a course of Pure Hypnoanalysis particularly difficult or impossible.

Testimonials from some ex-IBS sufferers

From a Changing Limiting Beliefs trainee:

I had suffered ever since I remember. Mainly lower back pain, IBS and bladder pain, as well as very low self esteem but after the break up of a long term relationship I suffered anxiety attacks, acute back pain, had to go part time at work because I could no longer travel (I'm in sales). Even visiting friends and family was stressful because I would panic about what they might feed me. I was getting my life back on track but then I experienced the worst bladder pain I had ever had and very bad IBS for about 4 months. I had always used Reiki to help my symptoms but this time it wasn't working. I had moved out of my shared house into a flat on my own because being around people was causing me stress. I became a total recluse, drinking most evenings and talking to people on the Internet was my only social life. If you met me you would think I was a successful, strong, attractive person but on the inside I was torturing myself.

The first time I saw Rob, he listened to my "life story" and within minutes totally understood where my problems were coming from. He helped me to understand that I had an obsessive personality, social phobia, and I was very impressionable, so my inner voice and my spiritual beliefs were actually keeping me ill because I had no trust in my own ability to be well. All I ever said to myself were negative things... "I will never get better", "no one likes me" etc. I would always expect the worst to happen and I would obsess about situations for hours on end.

When I started using the DREAM technique, I was very very sceptical that something so simple could be effective, but within a few days I felt like I had unlocked a chain around my neck. It was like I was seeing the world (and myself) through new eyes. The negative filter was gone! When using the DREAM technique it was like putting a petulant child on the naughty step, I would have to repeat it a number of times but eventually the negative thought would be turned into a positive one. I found that my relationship with my parents and friends had greatly improved and I was no longer the outsider I had imagined myself to be.

After a few weeks I had planned a 2 week work trip to America. My first meeting was a presentation in front of 30 people and I couldn't believe the improvement in my confidence. I was finally being the person I knew I could be. The rest of the trip went amazingly well, even though I was in a different city each day, I was not stressed at all, I had loads of energy and my physical symptoms were much improved.

Now I am a few months on, and I still use the DREAM technique every day. It is a part of my life now, so much so that I had DREAM tattooed on my wrist as a constant reminder!

I am so grateful to Rob for giving me this tool, I have come such a long way in a short space of time, it has empowered me to change my life for the better and I want to keep going!
